A unique opportunity to enjoy Vivaldi's classic concertos in a
wonderful setting of an Early Baroque palace
|
|
Toskánský (Thun-Hohenstein) Palác
lies on the west side of Hradčanské náměstí, in the immediate vicinity of Prague Castle,
just opposite the Castle's main entrance. The palace, designed by a gifted Burgundian Jean
Baptiste Mathey, arose upon the foundations of a late Renaissance house between 1689-91 and
is a perfect example of Early Baroque architecture. Its beautiful interiors provide an ideal
backdrop for Vivaldi's atmospheric music, as performed by leading Czech artists.

Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)
Vivaldi's work has been charming audiences and experts alike for more than
three hundred years thanks to the great diversity and quality of his music.
The best example of this is his famous cycle of four concertos "The Four Seasons",
for violin, string orchestra and harpsichord. These concertos poetically evoke the
characteristics of each season of the year and in the greatest possible measure
demonstrate Vivaldi's musical mastery.
